John Edward Hatten, a longtime resident of Jenks, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the age of 76. He was born on December 15, 1947, in Shelbina, Missouri, to his loving parents, Jack and Esther (Bozarth) Hatten.
John proudly served his country in the Army for two years while in the DMZ in Korea, demonstrating his commitment to duty and patriotism. He graduated from Broken Arrow High School, setting the stage for a life marked by dedication and hard work.
He found the love of his life, Pennie Barrett, and after a whirlwind romance of just two weeks, they were married, embarking on a beautiful journey together. Their love story was blessed with two children, Duston and Shannon. John was a licensed plumber working many years before joining Sun Oil as a Pipe Fitter where he worked for 24 years, retiring in 2002.
John is preceded in death by his mother, Esther Hatten, and his father, Jack Hatten. He leaves behind many cherished memories with his beloved wife of 57 years, Pennie Hatten; his son Duston Hatten and wife Amber; his son Shannon and wife Amy; grandkids Marissa Krohn, Lane Hatten, Anna Hatten, Gia Hatten, Adelynn Hatten and Brinley Hatten; great grandkids Sammy, Elanor, and Gabriel Krohn. Additionally, he is survived by his loving siblings, Jackie Tatum, Alena Nelson, Acey Hatten, Rainy Hatten, and a host of loving relatives and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
In his retirement years he enjoyed participating in tractor pulls, getting tattoos, fishing with his buddy Al, and attending car shows.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Schaudt's Glenpool-Bixby Funeral Service Reception Room, located at 1329 E 151st St S, Glenpool, OK 74033.
