John Edgar Tittle

John E. Tittle, Jr. (J.E.) passed away in his north Okmulgee County home on December 20, 2019 at the age of 83. His transition was attended by his wife of sixty years, Sharon Lee Tittle and four children, Shari Bean of Tulsa, Mark Tittle of Morris, Michelle Warrington of Cushing and Krista Wright of Beggs.

J.E. was a doting grandfather to eleven grandchildren, Amber Larson of Broken Arrow, Cody Scott of Coweta, Whitney Hanson of Broken Arrow, Katelyn Miller of Pryor, Ericka Upperman of Tulsa, Ryan Tittle of Inola, Bryce Lewallen of Lawton, Brayden Williams of Cushing, Mason Tittle and Avery Tittle of Morris and Jared Wise of Beggs. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Ryker and Lyla Scott, Laney, Penelope and Tripp Hanson, Jett Larson, Evelyn and Elliotte Miller, Nash Lewallen and a great-grandson due in January, 2020. His family includes one daughter-in-law, Malissa Tittle, two sons-in-law, Duane Warrington and Dean Wright, and grandchildren's spouses, Scott Larson, Donni Scott, Todd Hanson, Ryan Miller, Chris Upperman, Emily Tittle and Ashlyn Lewallen.

J.E. is also survived by his sister Billie Stanley, brother Eddie Tittle, six nephews, one niece as well as their children.

He was proceeded in death by his parents John E. (Ed) and Lessie Tittle, two sisters, Dorothy Koliha and Helen Jean Stacy, one brother Jimmie Tittle and one niece, Pam Simpson.

He was born December 13th 1936 in Morris, Oklahoma of Cherokee descent and attended Morris Public Schools. In high school, he was a respectable threat on both the football field and basketball court before graduating in 1955. He then attended East Central University for one year.

His work career began with Dowell in Tulsa Oklahoma. In 1965, this job led to Titusville, Florida where he worked at NASA's Cape Kennedy during our nation's quest to land a man on the moon. In the summer of 1968, he transferred to the U.S. Navy's Sealab III project in San Francisco, California.

But, neither Titusville nor San Francisco have quail to hunt so he moved his family back to Oklahoma. He and Sharon built a home in 1969 just ½ mile from her childhood home northeast of Beggs.

After Dowell, J.E. worked for Oklahoma Steel until the recession in the early 80's. He then became a USPS letter carrier and retired from that career. In the late 70's, he helped his youngest two daughters set up and run a fireworks stand to stave off summer boredom. Sparks ignited and the business grew steadily year after year. Soon, JET Fireworks operated wholesale, consignment and retail operations throughout northeast Oklahoma.

Besides quail hunting, J.E. enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling. He loved most sports and was an avid OU football fan. He preferred down-home Southern cooking and valued meals with family.

In 2010, he suffered his fifth stroke which led to a lengthy physical battle.

He will be lovingly remembered by his family for his obsessions – grandchildren, football, food, hunting, fishing and fireworks.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 26th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Schaudt's Funeral Home, Glenpool, Oklahoma.
