Joe Rogers

June 30, 1955 — July 9, 2024

Joe Richard Rogers of Kiefer, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the age of 69. Joe was born on June 30, 1955, in Silsbee, Texas, to his parents, Joe and Tony Rogers. He is survived by his brother Tommy, his wife Maria Armida Rogers (Amy), their three children-Noah, Winston, and Christopher Brown-and six grandchildren-Cade, Brad, Landon, Christina-Abigail, Ariell, and Allison.

The passage that comes to mind when thinking about Joe is John 15:13: "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends." Joe's life was not sacrificed on the battlefield during his eight years in the Marine Corps or his six years in the National Guard; however, he gave of himself to help and protect others. He served as a deputy sheriff for ten years before becoming a security guard at Memorial Hospital in Nacogdoches, TX., and then at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa and Glenpool, Oklahoma, for a combined twenty years. Joe loved to serve and protect others.

Joe married the love of his life, Amy, in November 1984. They shared 39 wonderful years together raising Amy's three boys: Noah, Winston, and Christopher. Joe loved his family, and they loved him.

Joe enjoyed teaching a hunter safety course. He began the Law Enforcement Explores Club in Nacogdoches, TX. Joe loved to spend time with his grandkids, teaching them how to handle and shoot firearms. He also loved traveling with his wife, and as they grew older, he took a job as a hotshot driver which allowed them to spend time exploring the country.

Joe was a ten-year member of Victory Christian Church. He spent his life living out his verse, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" Joshua 24:15. Joe's service to the Lord through protecting, loving, and serving others will be missed. However, we know we will meet again. May we hear the words Joe did, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
