Joan Ellen Hiner-Miller

March 5, 1944 — November 14, 2015

Joan Ellen Hiner-Miller passed away Saturday, November 14, 2015 in Jenks. Joan was born to Otto and Esther Dale on March 5, 1944. A giant snowstorm arrived very shortly after her birth. She grew up on a farm in Beaver County, Oklahoma. The life of being in a farm family was wonderful.

She attended Turpin Public School from first grade to senior high and graduated in 1962. On to college because her family would not have it any other way. The first baby heifer after her birth started the college fund and it was paid for by the time she finished Alva-Northwestern State University in 1966.

During college she married and two wonderful sons came into her life. William Trev and Tyson Dale Hiner. They showered her with unforgettable memories of music, sports, soccer, joy and love.

Her sons found wonderful soul mates who have been her friends and completed the family.
Next came unbelievable happiness: Grandchildren! Jasmin - Savanna - Gio - Annie and Otto: What a gift. Time with them was incredible. Watching them grow; making plans; having activities that they chose; and becoming someone that you could be proud of.

Joan retired from teaching with Tulsa Public Schools. She loved being a kindergarten teacher. She called them her babies. She was always looking for ways to make their learning easier. Her time teaching was never a job but a blessing and a calling.

Then came a call from a childhood and classmate friend; Keith Miller whom she married.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Keith Miller (2013) and her brother, Edward Dale.

She is survived by her children: Trev Hiner (Cherlyn), Tyson Hiner (Alisa); grandchildren: Jasmin, Savanna, Gio, Annie and Otto and her brother, William Dale (Janel).
