Jimmie (Jim) Jack Bryan, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2024, at the age of 92. He was cared for at the serene Clarehouse in his final days.
Born at home on August 30, 1931, on West Easton Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jim was the son of Lucy Jewel and Clarence Bentley Bryan. Jim's education journey began at Pershing Grade School, continued through Roosevelt Jr. High, and culminated with his graduation from Central High School in 1950. During his school years, Jimmie worked on a dairy farm and diligently delivered newspapers.
In 1950, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, attending Boot Camp in Alameda, California, and completing 16 weeks of engineering school in Connecticut. He served as a Diesel Engineer until his honorable discharge in 1953.
Following his service, Jim briefly attended college in Oklahoma before pursuing work on an oil drilling rig in Canada. Despite his skills, the frigid climate led him back to Oklahoma, where he joined the Piping Engineering Company in Sand Springs. Eventually becoming a part owner, Jim dedicated himself to the business until his retirement.
On July 1, 1961, Jimmie married the love of his life, Carol Carlton, with whom he would have celebrated 63 years of marriage in July 2024. Their daughter, Cecily Carol Henski (Bryan), was born on October 19, 1964.
Jim was known for his infectious sense of humor and his knack for lightening the mood with humorous anecdotes. He found joy in creative pursuits like woodworking, stained glass artistry, and cultivating an annual vegetable garden that generously supplied neighbors with fresh produce.
An avid traveler, Jim cherished adventures with Carol, embarking on numerous cruises and road trips. Among their favorite destinations was the Connor's cabin at Bay Lake, Minnesota, where Jim enjoyed fishing and relaxation.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sisters: Joan Connor, Louise Fields, Frances Lavery, and Jacqueline Sicking. Jim is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Cecily and his loving nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes, a private distribution of Jim's ashes will be conducted to honor and celebrate his remarkable life.
Jim will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of laughter, creativity, and warmth will continue to inspire those he touched.
