Jim Ray Churchill

A longtime resident, Jim Ray Curchill, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 30, 2017. Jim was born February 18, 1941 to the late Mallie and Clinton Churchill in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

Jim attended Okmulgee Public Schools where he graduated in 1959. He then married the love of his life, Beverly Vaughn, on April 23, 1960. Soon following their marriage they moved to Seminole, Texas where Jim worked at Pitman Builder Supply. They lived in Texas for 8 years and also welcomed two daughters, Gayelynn and Jeannean. In 1968 Jim moved him and his family to Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Jim worked at Creek County Lumber. They lived in Sapulpa for 20 years. In 1988 Jim and Ann bought Ace Hardware and moved back to Okmulgee. He soon became a member of the Elk Lodge. He was a member for 29 years where he served on the House Committee for a number years.

In 2001 Jim and Beverly closed Ace Hardware and Jim retired. Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He had many friends and was adored by many people.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Churchill, of the home; Sister Mary Skelton of California; Brother Mack Churchill and wife Heidi of Bixby; Daughters Gayelynn Churchill Sears and husband Tony and Jeannean Churchill Ledford wife of Cal; Granddaughter Annber Liddy wife of Christopher; Grandson Paul Sears husband of Morgan; Great grandchildren Mattie, Jaxson, Alana, Archer and Charlie. Survivors also include many nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Jim will be Monday, January 8th, 2018 at 10:00am in the Schaudt’s Okmulgee Chapel. Private inurnment will follow at the Okmulgee Cemetery.
