Jerry Wesley Smalling, a longtime resident of Okmulgee, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at the age of 81. He was born January 15, 1934 to George W. and Anna Inez (Trease) Smalling in Morris, Oklahoma. Mr. Smalling served in the United States Army from 1956-1958 and was in the 10th Mountain Division. He was soldier of the year in 1957 while serving in Germany. He was an X-ray Tech for operating engineers and a member of the Elks Lodge, American Legion and the VFW Post 1189 Okmulgee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Anna Inez Smalling; three sisters and daughter, Mona Smalling Taylor.
Survivors include his wife, Elisabeth “Jo” Smalling of the home; daughter, Cimone Balllenger and husband, Roger of Okmulgee; son, Rand Smalling and wife, Lori of Bixby; brothers, Bruce Craig and wife, Joann of Glendale, AZ, John “Red” Craig and wife, Brenda of Dewar and Steve Craig and wife, Belinda of Albuquerque, NM; six grandchildren, Lindsay Morrow, Beth Taylor, Wesley Smalling, Kim Taylor, Ashlee Smalling and Nicholas Smalling; five great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 30, 2015 at the Schaudt’s Okmulgee Funeral Service with Brother Jack Vance officiating.
Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Patriot Guard Riders.
