"He's Just So Kind......"
-Everyone
On November 3rd, 2022, Jeff Patton saw a long line of loved ones clapping him into heaven. Absolutely first in line were his dogs Yaz, Ruby, Lucy, and Emma who greeted him with wagging tails and sloppy wet kisses. Following them were his parents, Bud and Shirley, his long time friend Steve, his cousin Eddie, his nephew Dustin, and many, many aunts and uncles. He undoubtedly greeted every one of them by shaking their hands and asking "How ARE You?!"
Jeff was born on April 17th, 1945 in Washington, but lived in Tulsa since the age of one. He grew up with his sister, Paula in their house which was right next door and down the street from their grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Because of this, Jeff, or Sheffield as his Grampy called him, grew up being very close with his cousins namely Eddie, Ann, Mike, Linda, Judy, Tom and Paulie. Jeff could be seen almost daily outside playing baseball with Eddie, Mike, or Paulie. He was even secretly/not so secretly told that he was the favorite nephew by a few of the aunts.
In 1963, he graduated from Tulsa Central High School where he was very popular and made many, many friends. Jeff's biggest passion throughout his schooling was playing baseball, in which he played catcher quite well. He began playing baseball as a little kid and continued throughout highschool with lifelong friends Jerry, Pat, Hugh, Cap, and Doug. Up until a year ago, 5 of them met weekly for breakfast at the Savoy, a tradition which Jeff loved.
He graduated from Tulsa University in 1967 and served in the Air Force from 1968 to 1972, mostly in Turkey. After returning home, Jeff began his career as an IT Project Manager. While working at Skelly, he met and started dating a girl named Stephanie. He liked her so much, he married Stephanie and stayed with her for 47 years. Oh, the fun Jeff and Steph (the Eff's) had together! The Eff's were social butterflies and had many good friends such as Mike and Barbara, Mike (Jeff's cousin) and Stephanie (the OTHER Stephanie Patton) along with several friends from work. They could often be found skiing, going to or watching OU football games, bowling, having/going to parties, and dancing, dancing, dancing!! Jeff and Stephanie loved dancing in their living room to the music of the Spinners with Lucy and Ruby watching. Jeff liked to relax by playing golf, watching the Red Sox, taking naps on the couch while watching golf, and of course playing with his dogs. Later in life, Jeff's greatest pleasure was going to OSU wrestling matches with Jerry and Gene.
There are so many people who have wonderful, wonderful memories of Jeff, including his wife Stephanie, his sister Paula and her husband Gene, his niece Laura and her family Michael, Adam, and Katy, cousins Ann, Mike, Sherry, Linda, Tommy, Joyce, Patty, Grant, Stana,Travis,Reece, Karen, Kevin, and friends Mike, Jerry, Cap, Doug, Hugh, Pat,and Seeno.
