Jearl Wayne Meeks of Jenks, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1st, 2023, at the age of 70. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Dove Ministry in Jenks, Oklahoma, with Pastor Larry Bishop officiating. The interment will be at Griffin-Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, Oklahoma, at 3:00 PM.
Jearl was born on January 27, 1953, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to Omer Jearl and Virginia Louise (Webb) Meeks.
Jearl attended school at Ardmore High School, where he was on the wrestling team. He graduated from high school in 1971, with 11 years of perfect attendance, then moved on to study Computer Science at Cameron University and received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration - Accounting at the University of Tulsa.
In his younger years, Jearl had many hobbies. As a teen, he was proud to be a lifeguard at the city pool in Ardmore, as well as at Turner Falls State Park. He raced cars and was an avid hunter with his dad, who was also his best friend. There were many family trips to the Indianapolis 500.
In his later years, his pursuits changed to dancing, which he shared with his wife Bessie, and was very active with community service. He was an active member of BPO Elks Lodge 946 and served as Exalted Ruler in 1997. He also served as both Treasurer and Vice-President of Finance at Youth of Heart, and Treasurer for Southside Sertoma Club since 1997.
Jearl was a member of the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants. He was also active in the local chapter of the Financial Planning Association and served as President in 2010.
Professionally, he was a Certified Public Accountant for many years, before becoming a Certified Financial Planner. He started Wealth Management Strategies in 2009 and assisted clients in managing their investment portfolios and planning for retirement.
Jearl's love of his Heavenly Father, his family, and his church was evident in his amazing smile when he spoke about each of them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jearl and Louise Meeks.
Jearl is survived by his wife, Bessie, of Jenks, Okla., sister, Susan Hull, of Muskogee, Okla., daughter, Lori Elders and husband Terry, of Muskogee, Okla., son, Jeff Meeks and wife Kelly, of Claremore, Okla., stepson, Jeffrey Gathman and wife Tori, of Glenpool, Okla. He is also survived by granddaughters Moira Wright, Josephine Wright, Emily Meeks, Lillian Meeks, and step-grandkids Aiden, Lily, Serenity, and Grayson, and a multitude of much-loved cousins, nieces and nephews, and extended family.
Pallbearers are Jeff Meeks, Jeffrey Gathman, Terry Elders, Jim Harris, Doug Harris, and Jerry McClendon.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that you make donations to Youth At Heart, Inc. A Tulsa Area United Way, where Jearl volunteered for 25 years or to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
A Public Viewing and Visitation will be held 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Monday, October 9, 2023 at Schaudt's Glenpool-Bixby Funeral Service & Cremation Care Centers. Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM October 10, 2023 at Dove Ministry, 2833 W Main St, Jenks, Oklahoma with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Armore, Oklahoma.
