Jay Travis (Blaze) Benson, age 27, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2007 at his residence in Sapulpa, Oklahoma as a result of injuries sustained in a house fire.
Jay was born December 4, 1979 in Ramona, California to Theodore Dana Benson and Bonnie Ellen (Passenheim) Benson. He graduated in 1998 from Broken Arrow Alternative Academy. At the time of his death, and for the past three years, Jay worked as a Senior Batchman for Bartlett-Collins Glass Company. Jay was a workaholic but in his spare time he liked reading, fishing, target shooting, digital photography and his collection of exotic animals (snakes and lizards).
He is survived by his mother: Bonnie Ellen Benson and step-father Randall Roberts of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; his brothers: Martin Rev Benson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Petty Officer Houston and his wife, Susan; his sister: Anne Geffert and her husband, Karol of Coweta, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Wild Canid Survival and Research Center (http://www.wolfsanctuary.org), in honor of Jay's love and fascination with wolves.
Private family services will be held.
