Jay Lowell Jones, entrepreneur and lifelong resident of Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2021, with family by his side. He is survived by his daughters Holly Jones-Crivelli and Terri Branham, four grandchildren-John Branham, Abegayle Bazan, Addison Bazan, and Jameson Busch-and his brother, Joe Jones.
Jay was born in Edmond, Okla. on July 30, 1941 to James L. Jones and Florence I. Jones (neé Hill). He graduated with an Associates' Degree from Oklahoma State University and served in the National Guard. A lifelong entrepreneur and tireless worker, Jones had a knack for identifying and meeting market needs in a wide range of industries. He did everything from selling pipe in the oil and gas industry, to opening new retail establishments and launching new ventures in the manufacturing and financial services industries.
Jay was a devoted father to his daughters. He loved music and led his daughters to develop the same love of singing and performing. Jay himself was often found singing and playing his guitar at music events throughout Oklahoma. He also played an instrumental role for many years in Oklahoma Kids (later American Kids), a nonprofit performing arts organization that helps young people to find a safe place to perform and develop their talents.
In his later years, he contributed his time and energies to the Loyal Order of the Moose. In retirement, he served as administrator of the order's Tulsa Chapter.
His most notable traits were his generosity, his appreciation of life, and the thrill of exploration. He loved to travel. To explore and experience new things. And throughout his journeys, he shared his experiences with those closest to him, broadening their world and their love of life as well.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1pm on Thursday, April 15th at Schaudt's Funeral Home at 5757 S. Memorial Drive in Tulsa. Jay's brother Joe, minister at Mt. Zion Christian of Broxton, will officiate. Flowers and condolences may be offered at 5757 S Memorial Dr, Tulsa, OK 74145.
