Jay Glenn Patchett of Tulsa passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the age of 86. He is survived by his brother, Robert of Monument, CO; daughter, Jayme; four sons: Kevin and his wife, Sandi, Greg, Don and Larry; five grandchildren: Sean, Glenn, Natalee, Cassidy, Jessica and one great grandchild, Hailey.
Jay was born in Tulsa to Ruth and Glenn Patchett on February 28, 1930. He grew up in Tulsa and spent much of his youth in Nowata County and the town of Lenepah.
He received a degree in Geophysical Engineering from the University of Tulsa in 1954. He began his career as a Geophysicist, working for Schlumberger Well Services in Mt. Carmel, Illinois as a field logging engineer. In 1958, he moved the family to Casper, Wyoming where Jay worked as Regional Log Analyst for Standard Oil of Indiana. In 1965, the company moved operations to Denver, where Jay would work until 1975, when he moved to Tulsa to become a Senior Research Associate at Amoco's Tulsa Research Center. He was a pioneer in researching electrical and nuclear tools for oil exploration and received the Gold Medal from the Society of Professional Well Log Analysts. Their highest honor in 1994.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the Schaudt Funeral Service In Tulsa.
