Jared Andrew Gordon, 21, died the evening of Friday, May 26, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as a result of a rare seizure disorder. He was born February 23, 1996 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Dr. Andrew and Dr. Sherri (Long) Gordon. He grew up in Bixby, Oklahoma from the age of 3. He attended pre-K through senior year at Metro Christian Academy in Tulsa, graduating in 2015. He began his football career in Third grade, playing both running back, lineman, and linebacker. Jared was an active member of First United Methodist Youth Group. He worked part-time, during his Junior and Senior year of high school at Wal-Mart Neighborhood Pharmacy.
Jared recently completed his Sophomore year at the University of Oklahoma. He was accepted into the Michael F. Price College of Business. He was a proud member of Beta Upsilon Chi (BYX) and the Sooner Man Squad during football games. He served on a mission trip to Tijuana this past Spring Break. He enjoyed playing music and basketball. He will be remembered as always wearing too much blue and his love for movies.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Jerry L. Gordon and sister, Alicia Hope Gordon.
Survivors include parents, Dr. Andrew and Dr. Sherri (Long) Gordon of Bixby, Oklahoma; siblings, Olivia Rose Gordon and Alex Gordon of Bixby, Oklahoma; grandparents, Ed and Vivien Long of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Marilyn Gordon of Tulsa, Oklahoma; aunts and uncles, Theresa Gordon of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sonya and Ed Bateman, Jr. of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Scott and Anna Long of Tulsa, Oklahoma, TJ and Stacy Varghese of New York City, New York; cousins, Ryan Bateman, Grant Bateman, Luke Bateman, Emily Long, Evan Long, Hannah Long, and Ben Long. He will be greatly missed.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Jared Andrew Gordon to First United Methodist Youth Group of Tulsa, Antioch Church of Norman, Metro Christian Football Team or Beta Upsilon Chi (BYX) of University of Oklahoma.
Viewing will be Tuesday, May 30, 2017, 5:00PM to 7:00PM, with the family present, at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service. Services will be held 4:00PM,Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at First United Methodist Church 1115 S. Boulder Ave. Tulsa, with Private interment at Calvary Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
