Janice Kathleen (English) Zehren, born March 16, 1953, in Nowata, OK to Jack and Ardith English. She made her last inappropriate comment on November 12, 2018.
Jan grew up traipsing the U.S. and the United Kingdom as an oil brat due to her father’s work as an executive at Phillips Petroleum. She lived in Iowa, Calgary, New Jersey, Ohio, Brussels and London. After she graduated from the Overseas School London in 1971 and was unable to find work in London, her father put her on a Phillips’ plane to Tulsa with $500 cash.
Once in Tulsa, Jan lived in her brother’s fraternity house at TU and hitchhiked often (it was the 70's!). During the 40 years that followed, she married and divorced twice, had three daughters and picked up two bonus children along the way.
Jan found work in a variety of areas: modeling, property management, hospitality services and real estate. She was most proud of her work as a Landman, working for Zenergy, Inc. and Penn Virginia.
Jan loved her family, red wine, honing her skills as a home chef, scary movies and gardening.
Following a long illness, Jan was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Noel. Jan’s larger-than-life persona and trademark sarcasm will be greatly missed by her daughters, Jacque Gaylor, Chelsea Lewis and Jessica Zehren; her former husband and father of her children, Roger Zehren; son in law, Matthew Gaylor; former husband and father of her bonus children, Mick Leslie; bonus children, Whitney and Payton Leslie; her brothers, Kirby English and John English; her sisters, Shelley English and Elizabeth Young; her grandchildren, Madison, Gunnar, Channing, Quinn, Alexandra and London along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express its immense gratitude toward Jan's sister and 24/7 caregiver, Shelley English, along with the angels at Saint Francis Hospice that took such loving care of Jan over the past two years.
A memorial service celebrating Jan's life will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at 10am at Schaudt’s Tulsa Funeral Service, 5757 S. Memorial Drive.
Arrangements are entrusted to Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service. Family and friends may send memories and condolences to the family online at www.schaudtfuneralservice.com.
