Janet Mae Paulson, age 90, of Tulsa, OK passed away peacefully on June 6. She was born to Ralph and Laverna Edwards and grew up on a farm. She graduated as a salutatorian from Oakdale High School in Oakdale, NE.
In 1953, she married Garland Barrett and moved to Omaha, NE Together, they had four children. They divorced in 1971. She married Orval Paulson in 1972. They had a blended family consisting of six children. They moved to Oklahoma in 1977 for Orval's job at Bison Nitrogen in Woodward. Jan worked as a bank teller for the Stock Exchange Bank. She moved to Tulsa after Orval died in 2008.
Jan loved to cook, kept an immaculate house, and was a gifted seamstress. She and Orval loved hosting people in their home, sipping on coffee and sharing stories.
Jan was involved at Asbury Methodist Church and became a Stephen's Minister. She was also actively involved in Beta Sigma Phi sorority and enjoyed her sorority sisters.
Jan is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Vivian, and her husband, Orval. She is survived by her children: Greg (Colette) Barrett of Cypress, TX, Jeri (John) Thomas of Indianapolis, IN, Jane Kirk of Tulsa, OK, Jay Barrett of Houston, TX, eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday June 10 from 5-8 pm at Schaudt's Funeral Home; 5757 S. Memorial Drive, Tulsa, OK. The Celebration of Life will be on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Asbury Church Stephens Ministries in Tulsa.
