James Venson Phillips

Funeral services to honor and celebrate the life of James Venson Phillips, Jr. will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 22, 2019, at Okmulgee Indian Baptist Church with pastor Matt Tiger officiating. Interment will follow at Okmulgee Indian Baptist Church Cemetery.

James Venson Phillips, passed away on March 18, 2019, at the age of 64 years.

James was born on October 16, 1954, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to parents, James and Jorene Phillips.

He graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1972. In the year 1986, James furthered his education and pursued an Associates Degree in Computer Engineering from Okmulgee Tech (OSUIT). Here he graduated second in his class. He worked as a computer engineer until retirement in 2013. James was loved playing the guitar which he played since the age of 6. He was very proud of the music he played and the album he published.

He is preceded in death by mother, Jorene Phillips Walker and brother, Michael Ray Phillips.

Those left to cherish his memory include, father, James V. Phillips of Cushing, Oklahoma ex-wife, Teresa Phillips of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, son, Jarrett Phillips and wife Amber of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ashley Nicole Phillips of Bethlehem Pennsylvania, step mother, Blanch C. Phillips of Cushing, Oklahoma, brother, Steven Wayne Phillips of Stockton, California, step-brother, Asa E. Davis of Ponca City, Oklahoma, step- sisters Mable Elizabeth Cimino of San Antonio, Texas and Deborah Davis of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Grand children include Tatyana and Raistlin Phillips of Tulsa, Oklahoma, as well as a host of cousin, nieces, and nephews.
