A memorial service celebrating and honoring the life of James Ryan Proszek will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Church of the Resurrection, 4804 Fulton Avenue, Tulsa, Oklahoma, with Reverend Daniel Campos officiating. Inurnment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Ryan passed away Friday, December 9, 2017. He was 33.
Ryan was born March 2, 1984 in Houston Texas. He was the son of Michael A. Proszek and Jennifer (White) Pack.
Over his life, Ryan lived in both the Houston area and in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ryan enlisted in the Oklahoma National Guard on March 25, 2008. He was called to active duty for the United States Army and was deployed to Afghanistan for two terms. During his time in the service he was an Information Systems Operator and received a number of awards, including the Army Service ribbon and the National Defense Service medal. Ryan proudly served our country for seven years.
He enjoyed working out, lifting weights and playing pool with his friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Michael A. Proszek and his grandmother, Jeaneene Proszek.
Survivors include his grandfather, James Joseph Proszek; uncle, James John Proszek and his wife Lisa; aunt, Maureen Wheatley and her husband, Gibson; and four cousins, Samuel Wheatley, Matthew Wheatley, James M. Proszek, and Joseph M. Proszek.
