A Memorial Service will be held honoring and remembering the life of James "Jim" Russell Hampton on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 1 PM at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service with Gary Volz officiating. Jim passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018. He was 77.
Jim was born on August 27, 2018 to Lula Mae and Philip Hampton in Boonville, Missouri.
In 1958, he graduated from Boonville High School and then continued his education at the University of Missouri where be obtained his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering in 1964.
Jim and Linda moved to Oklahoma in 1990 where Jim has lived ever since.
He was employed as a Civil Engineer at Du Pont where he worked for over 20 years. After retirement from Du Pont. In the last 20 years Jim enjoyed helping others in need with small project around the house, visiting people in the nursing home and being a friend of Bill W. where he was an inspiration to many others.
In 2005 Jim married Sandra Lee (Hilburn) Hampton in Miami, Oklahoma.
He was a lover of all sports. Jim enjoyed cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals in baseball a was a huge NCAA fan. His two favorite teams were University of North Carolina and the University of Kansas. He would never miss watching a March Madness game and even attended a few games when they were in Tulsa. Jim enjoyed listening to old time country western music and slowly began to like some of the new music as well. If he wasn't listening to music or watching sports he could be found doing a crossword puzzle, tinkering in the garage or watching western movies and TV shows. Jim had a kind and spiritual soul and loved his family, especially his daughters. They were his pride and joy. He will be missed greatly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lula Mae and Philip Hampton; his first wife, Linda Hampton; his stepdad, Earl McBride; brother, Bill Hampton; nephew, Brad and two step-sons, Michael and Jeremy Ronk.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy Hampton; two daughters, Carrie Carter and Jaime Williamson and her husband, Scott; two grandsons, Miles and Caleb Williamson and one brother, Harry Hampton.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Jim to the Alzheimer's Association., 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
