James Robert Gaither passed away peacefully at his father’s home in Ft. Gibson on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the age of 31. He was born on Saturday, November 25, 1978 to Thomas G. and Jameia (Quinton) Gaither in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Jim was a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and served in the United States Army. He was an infantryman and served in combat in Iraq with the 101st Airborne, where he received the Bronze Star with V for Valor. He is survived by his wife, Lindsey Gaither and sons, Jayde and Jack of Morris; father, Tom, Sr. of Ft. Gibson; mother, Jameia of Henryetta; brothers, Tom, Jr. and Joe; nieces and nephews, Trey, Bryndan, Kaitlin, Gabriel, Jarrett and Erin, all of Weed, California. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010 at the Church of Christ in Morris with Paul Arnold officiating. Jim will be buried alongside his namesake and grandfather, James Quinton in the Hoffman Cemetery following the service. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Army. Visitation will be held Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Pallbearers will be Tom, Trey and Bryndan Gaither, Nick Jukich, Seth Wahnee, Nick Bernard and Nick Burks.
