James Ray Thurmond age 70 passed away January 31, 2016 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
James was born April 4, 1945 in Borger, Texas to Aulcie Paul Thurmond and Ethel Mae (Fitch) Thurmond. He graduated from White Deer High School. He enlisted into the United States Army and served his country and received an honorable discharge. He continued his education at West Texas State University and received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Accounting. He married the love of his life, Pamela Denny on December 20, 1969 in Andrews, Texas. James enjoyed wood working, fishing, playing golf and traveling to Colorado. James worked for twenty plus years as an IT Specialist for Phillips Petroleum before retiring in 2002.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Aulcie and Ethel Thurmond, his grandson, Gage Thomas Thurmond and his son, James Paul Thurmond.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Joy Thurmond of Sapulpa, his daughters and their spouses: Jenny Knocke (Nick) of Jenks, Angela Jackson (Brian) of Omaha, Nebraska, his brother, Roy P. Thurmond and his wife, Irene of Clarendon, Texas his brother in-law LeRoy Denny and his wife, Sheree', two nephews Bryan Thurmond, Brent Denny, one niece Lisa Wester, his loving grandchildren: Brayden, Stone, Davis, Saige and Stark, along with other family members and friends.
Memorial services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at First Baptist Church-Jenks, 11701 S. Elm Street, Jenks, Oklahoma. Reverend Rick Frie will officiate.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to First Baptist Church-Jenks or NETrf.org (neuroendecine tumor research foundation).
