A graveside service to remember the life of James Perry Vanderpool will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday December 10, 2020 at Okmulgee Cemetery in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, with pastor Dennis Taylor officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 - 12:00 PM on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Schaudt Okmulgee Funeral Service in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
James Perry Vanderpool of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was born to parents James and Alta Vanderpool on March 11, 1945 in Eugene, Oregon. He passed away on December 4, 2020 at the age of 75 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Jim was a graduate of Okmulgee High School in 1963. He would go on to join the United States Army and National Guard following high school. He also attended the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma where he would go on to work for several companies. Jim met his late wife Barbara and married April 23, 1966 and together would have three children, Jay, Brad and Blake. They moved to Okmulgee, Oklahoma where they opened Vanderpool Decorating Center at the age of 25. Jim sold oil field equipment in the 80's and would also live in California and Tulsa for a while before moving to Oklahoma City in the Mid 90's where they owned Vanco Flooring which expanded into three locations across the region. He also owned multiple commercial real estate in Oklahoma City.
Jim loved to work. He took pride in what he did and wanted to run a successful business to provide for his family but also to provide the best service he could for his customers. Jim and Barbara loved spending time at the lake on their houseboat at Broken Bow Lake and spent many years there with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Vanderpool and parents, James, and Alta Vanderpool.
Those left to remember Jim's stories, laugh, smile and sense of humor include children, Jay Vanderpool, Brad Vanderpool, Blake Vanderpool and wife Sheila. Siblings include Penny and husband Dee Cooper of Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Tommy and wife Susan Vanderpool of Jenks, Oklahoma and Cynthia Vanderpool of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
