James Edward “Jim” Parker, 77, a resident of Henryetta, OK was called to the Lord on March 12, 2011. Jim was born in Hanna, OK on December 29, 1933 to Joe and Mary Parker. He married Lois Evelyn Henson on March 8, 1955 and together had four children. Jim loved any activity to do with the outdoors, but his greatest love was spending time with his family and friends. He served with the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War from November 1951 to November 1954 and was discharged as a Sergeant. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Henryetta, OK and Holdenville, OK. Jim was also a member and Past Master of the Eufaula Masonic Lodge, McAlester Scottish Rite, and past member of the Potentate’s Aide of the Akdar Shrine in Muskogee. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years Lois of the home, son, Joe Parker and wife Kathy of Lincolnton, NC, three daughters, Jamie Pratt Parker and husband Allen of Paris, TX, Mary Martinez and husband Robert of Greenville, TX, Melissa Remis and husband Sam of Henryetta, OK, two sisters, Betty Herbert of Eufaula, OK, Jean Anthony and husband Hugh of Paris, TX. Jim is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren (plus two on the way) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday March 17, 2011 at the Church of Christ. Services were entrusted to Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta. Condolences may be submitted at www.shurdenjackson.com
