James "Jim" Kenneth Parker was delivered to God Thursday, June 26, 2014 in Tulsa, OK. He was born August 16, 1939 in Goldsboro, NC to Graydon and Gwendolyn Mary Parker. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carole, his sister, Janice, and his children, Jennifer, Joy, Julie, Holly, Susanna, Amy, Martha, Bethany, Jimmy Jr., Daniel, Bonnie, Kimberly, Stephanie, and Christopher. He unites in Eternal Peace with his brother, Jerry, mother, Mary, stepfather, George, and father, Graydon.
Jim married the love of his life, Carole Elizabeth Scherer, on December 16, 1967. Soon after they started their beautiful family of fourteen children.
He always believed in making the world a better place through his actions. He defended anyone from injustice and stood up for all those around him. He was a shining light to all who knew him.
After graduating Goldsboro High and serving in the Peace Corps, Jim earned a Bachelor's degree in Theology from Oral Roberts University in 1971 and spread the power of God to all around him. Jim prayed for anyone in need and lifted everyone with the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Jim pursued a career as an educator and coach at a variety of Christian schools in Tulsa. With devout love and enthusiasm, he deeply influenced the lives of all he taught or befriended; everyone who crossed his path. Athleticism was important to Jim's life and he instilled a healthy and competitive nature in his children and teams. We love you, Dad!
Jim continues to be a beacon of inspiration to all fortunate enough to have known him. Jim’s name can be honored through kindness and perseverance.
