James "Jim" E. Smith

January 7, 1931 — October 23, 2014

James "Jim" E. Smith passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014 in Broken Arrow with his close friends by his side. He was born January 7, 1931 in Lockhart, Texas to Orbie and Ida Smith. James worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He served his country honorably in the U. S. Navy and received his honorable discharge in 1953. Jim served as Worshipful Master of his Masonic Lodge in Texas. His masonic membership was currently held at the Broken Arrow Masonic Lodge #243.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his son Mark Smith. He is survived by his sisters Billie Fox and Eloise Carlisle; and his dearest friends Opal Matthews and Shirley "Cotton" Ketcher.

Graveside Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Monday, November 3, 2014 at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery with Chaplain Randy Shaddox officiating. Masonic rites and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard will conclude the ceremony.
