James E. Churchill

James E. Churchill, a resident of Okmulgee, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the age of 83. He was born July 6, 1928 to Lester Ray and Zela (Cunningham) Churchill in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. On March 16, 1946, he married Mamie Murray in Pryor, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Ray and Zela Churchill; son, Larry Churchill; two brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mamie Churchill; one son, Rick Churchill and wife, Nancy of Lewisville, TX; three sisters; one brother; one granddaughter, Abbie Conway and husband, Matt of Katy, TX; two great grandchildren, Brendan and Kelsey Conway and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee with Pastor Ted Waller. Burial will follow the service at the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Wayne Lucas, Ronnie Churchill, Scott Lucas, Duane Gordon, Steven Gordon and Danny Churchill. Honorary Pallbearers will Kevin Waltman and Prescott Davis. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
