James (Jim) Donald Lucas age 65 passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Jim was born March 10, 1943, to J.D. Lucas and Irene Cox Lucas. He graduated with the Class of 1961 from Daniel Webster High School, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jim joined the United States Army on January 7, 1964 and served three years until he was honorably discharged on January 6, 1967. He married Luana Woodworth on February 27, 1980. He and his family have lived in Mounds, Oklahoma since 1984. Jim was a member of First Baptist Church in Mounds. He retired after working for thirty-three years for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a car inspector. In his spare time he liked to ride motorcycles, go fishing, do yard work and he especially like to do wood working projects.
He was preceded in death by his step father: Claire McVeigh.
James is survived by his wife: Luana Lucas of Mounds; his mother: Irene McVeigh of Mounds; his children: Laura Torgerson and her husband, Blaire of Des Moines, Iowa; James Robert (Bobby) Lucas and his wife, Kim of Mounds; Clifford W. Lucas of Mounds; Amanda Foyil and her husband Jonathan of Owasso; David Armstrong and his wife, Lynelle, of Tahlequah; Rebecca Morton and her husband, Gerry, of Peggs; his brothers: Ronald W. Lucas and his wife, Diana of Beggs; James C. McVeigh and his wife, Sharon of Colorado Springs, Colorado along with eight precious grandchildren.
Interment will be at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma Friday, May 30th, at 10:00 a.m.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 101 East 14th Street, Mounds, Oklahoma. Reverend Dick Knox will officiate.
