James Benny Thomason

James Benny Thomason passed away with loving family by his side Thursday, June 9, 2022, at the age of 70 years.

James was born Saturday, March 8, 1952 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to his parents, Jim and Ruth (Garrett) Thomason.

James proudly served our country in the Army from June 30, 1970 to May 15, 1972. He also served in the National Guard for seventeen years.

Jim had many different interests and hobbies from woodworking to deer hunting; he collected guns and knives, enjoyed fishing, loved to grill and barbecue but hated burnt hotdogs or burnt anything, (He couldn't understand how someone eat things beyond Medium not to mention Well Done; however Tamara loved them so he burnt things just for her.)
Jim liked learning anything about history, however his favorite subject was the Civil War- he was a walking encyclopedia of knowledge. He loved watching Old Western movies on the GRIT channel, especially John Wayne movies- his favorite actor.

Jim was actively involved in his church where he was an elder and involved in the visiting teaching program.

He met Tamara and they were married on June 22, 2012 in Muskogee, OK.

James worked as a Respiratory Therapist for many years throughout northeast Oklahoma. He also proudly served the citizens of Muskogee County as a deputy for Muskogee County Sheriff's office.

He is preceded in death by father, Jim Thomason; mother, Ruth Thomason; sister, Judy Davis and brother, Wayne Earp.

Jim leaves many loving memories with his family, wife Tamara Thomason; sister, Linda Hall and husband Lonnie; brother Rich Thomason and wife Dee; daughter, Shari Peña and husband Hyrum and their children Joshua, Emily, Blake, Andrew, Jordan, Dash and Zion; son, Chris Thomason his children Tessa Jones and husband Christian, Whitney Thomason and Wyatt Thomason; daughter, Jyme Marwedel and husband Gary and their children Zoe, Amber, Danielle, Ella, Luke, Leia; daughter Jinell Morris and husband Michael, their children Xander, Adyn, Chloy; daughter, Netiasha Kanada and husband Andrew and their children, Jared Kanada, Justyce Mills, Aeryel Mills and Serenity Mills (deceased); daughter, Shaelynn Wilson; daughter, Jennifer Langdon; along with many other loving relatives and a host of friends.

Public Viewing/Visitation will be held 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Monday, June 13, 2022 at Schaudt's Glenpool Funeral Service. Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM June 14, 2022 at Schaudt's Glenpool Funeral Service Chapel, 719 East 141st Street, Glenpool, Oklahoma with Brother John Cato officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30pm at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery with military honors.
