Jacquelyn Lonian

January 10, 1948 — April 21, 2024

Jacquelyn Carr Lonian ("Jacquie") passed away peacefully on April 21st. Jacquie was married to Anderson J. Lonian Jr. ("A.J.") for nearly 52 years, and together they raised two sons Anderson J. Lonian III ("Trippe") and Jonathan K. Lonian. Jacquie took tremendous pride in her family, and she particularly treasured the time she spent with the granddaughter who bears her name, Jacquelyn K. Lonian ("Jacquie").

Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Jacquie called Tulsa home for over 40 years. An only child, Jacquie was a first-generation college graduate who majored in Classics at Manhatanville College before earning her Master's in Education from Tufts University. Consumed by a lifelong love of learning, Jacquie spent over 30 years as a teacher and counselor, sharing her passionate love of Latin and the Classics with thousands of middle and high school students primarily at Holland Hall and Booker T. Washington. Passionate about travel, Jacquie treasured her bi-annual trips to Europe - primarily to Italy - often taking groups of students to explore antiquity's remnants. During those trips, Jacquie was able to unleash her inner epicure, indulging her appetite for fine Italian cuisine often culminating with her beloved gelato.

Jacquie was predeceased by her mother, Adelle Manning, and father, Wiley Carr. Jacquie is survived by her husband, A.J., her sons, Trippe and Jonathan, her granddaughter, Jacquie, and a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.

A Receiving of Friends event will be announced at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org), the Alzheimer's Foundation of America (alzfdn.org), or Dress for Success of Tulsa (tulsa.dressforsuccess.org).
