In the fullness of time a life's journey ends.
But love once shared continues to live.
And beyond this day that love prevails.
Jack Pendell, Jr, 93 of Sand Springs, OK passed away peacefully on July 29, 2019 with his loving wife, MaryDell at his bedside.
Jack was born in Newburgh, NY on Feb 18, 1926. His family later relocated to Harrisburg, PA, where he lived until the age of 17 when he joined the Navy Seabees and served in the Solomon Islands during World War II. He was also recalled during the Korean War and trained Navy boat crews in Norfolk, VA.
Jacks career was industrial maintenance in central PA. He worked many long hours to support his family, but he still made time to participate in his three son's interest and activities. He became the safety officer for his son's little league baseball association and fabricated a device that helped the boys hit the ball better. He disassembled and rebuilt the engine of one son's 60's mustang in his driveway, because he had no garage at that time! He enjoyed learning about various species of fish as he assisted his eldest son setup and stock aquariums. As Jack's sons grew older, they also enjoyed motorcycle and horseback riding together.
After retirement, Jack and Marydell relocated to Sand Springs , OK where he enjoyed many happy years sailing on Lake Keystone. Jack was well-known to family and friends to be able to fix or repair anything! Up to his last days, he was eager to share his knowledge and help to whomever needed it. His family and friends will remember his engaging smile, unfailing sense of humor, and his hearty unrestrained laughter. We cherish the memories of his kindness, love, respect for others, sincerity, and wisdom. Jack was strong in his Lutheran faith and believed in the promise of Jesus:
I am the resurrection and the light; he who believes in me, though he die , yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. John 11:25-26
Jack is survived by his wife, Marydell; sons: Barry J (Esther) of Hatfield, PA , Bruce L. (Jeannie) of Newburg , PA, David H. (Jolie) of Mechanicsburg, PA; Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren : Lisa Pendell , Stephanie Pendell, Robert Pendell, Jackson Pendell, Cory Shover, Justin Waddington, Callie Shover, Campell Shover, Tamara Waddington along with a host of other family members and friends.
