Jack G. Covington

August 25, 1926 — April 30, 2008

Ted (Jack) Gilford Covington, Jr. age 81 passed away at the Claremore Veterans Center on Thursday, April 30, 2008.
Jack was born August 25, 1926 to Ted G. Covington, Sr. and Alice C. (Saxon) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He attended Lone Star Elementary in Sapulpa and Tulsa Central High School. He joined the United States Navy during World War II and was a signal man. Jack married his wife, Betty on October 7, 1983 in Glenpool, Oklahoma. Jack worked as a moulder by trade; for T L Foundry and for twenty plus years he worked for Flanagan Iron works before he retired.
In 1968 Jack and his friends started the band called, €œLittle Big Band€ and he played the fiddle and was known as €œfrog€. Jack enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of American Legion Post 308; VFW in Glenpool and attended the First Baptist Church - Mounds.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents: Ted and Alice Covington, two brothers: Jimmy and Buck Covington, three sisters: Ruth O'Donley, Norma Mc Daris, Lea Peacock and his grandson: Grady Lollis.
Mr. Covington is survived by his wife: Betty June Covington of Glenpool, his son: Ted Riley Covington and his wife, Pam of Glenpool; his daughter: Janie (Covington) Lollis of Berryhill; his two stepsons: Jimmy Dee Barrett and his wife, Vicky of Sand Springs; Danny Ray Barrett and his wife, Debbie of Mounds; sister: Denise Stanley of Jenks; Billie Jeane Bowers of Mounds; father in-law: Jr. Burris of Glenpool along with ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Schaudt's Funeral Home, Glenpool. Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church €“ Mounds. Reverend Dick Knox will officiate. Interment immediately following at Oakwood Cemetery, Mounds.
