Ruth (Ida Faye) Sanders was born July 4, 1926 in Jenks, Oklahoma, to Leroy Gardner and Mary (Crabtree). She passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years. Ruth graduated from Lowell High School in Tulsa and has lived several places in Oklahoma and lived in Nashville from 2001 to 2012. Ruth had three children with her first husband, Freddie W. Glisson; Freddie L. Glisson, Jacquelyn Glisson Winnett and Richard D. Glisson. She married her 2nd husband Kenneth F. Sanders on May 24, 1956.
Ruth was a faithful member of the following churches; Glad Tidings in Tulsa, Faith Assembly of God Church in Tulsa and Living to Go in Goodlettsville, TN. Ruth spent most of her time working as a hair dresser and raising her children. She even won “Mother of the Year” at her church in Goodlettsville. Her favorite interests included spending time fishing, crocheting, gardening, shopping, playing Yahtzee with her family, reading her bible and praying. She was able to do anything; if it needed built she built it, if it needed cooked she cooked it and if it needed fixed she fixed it. Her strongest and most beautiful passion was that she prayed when someone was laden with an affliction and she wouldn’t stop praying until that burden was lifted.
Most important to her was the time she spent with her family. Loving family members include her children; Jackie Winnett and husband, Blackie of Goodlettsville, TN, Richard Glisson and wife, Toni of Tulsa, OK; her sister Betty Jo Williams of Kent, WA; 10 Grandchildren, Vicky Looney, Randy Martin, Lori Martin, Carol Glisson Iverson and husband Danny, Anthony Wayne Glisson, Deana Glisson Cooper, Michael Glisson, Lori Glisson Walden, Richard Glisson and wife Jamie and Kenneth Glisson and wife Anne; 10 Great Grandchildren, Sara Graham Huddleston and husband Ricky, Krystle Cloud Phelps and husband Chris, Lindsey Graham, Brandy Martin, Jackie Martin, Logan Jones, Leah Jones, Richie Glisson, Lilian Walden and Nalani Glisson; 7 Great Great Grandchildren, Jaidyn Phelps, Jaxon Phelps, Elsie Huddleston, Riley Fragello, Marshall Huddleston, Murphy Huddleston and Myla Jones. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Kenneth Sanders; her siblings, LeElla Metzger, Irene Bacon, Jack Gardner and Donald Gardner; and her son Freddie Glisson and wife Ann.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 -4:00 PM, Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Schaudt-Teel Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday, April 11, 2016 at Harvard Avenue Baptist Church, Tulsa.
