Howard E. Chapman, 90, passed from this life on Jan.3, 2017. He was born July 24, 1926 to Elva Sunday Chapman and Zeke Chapman in Tahlequah, OK.
Howard accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior when he was twelve years old. He taught Sunday School class for college and career age young men and also a substitute teacher for Adult Classes.
He enlisted in the Navy at age 17. After basic training in San Diego, he served two years as LST 31 in the Pacific. After WWII ended he returned home and married his high school sweetheart Sue (Susie).
Howard received his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Oklahoma A and M, now Oklahoma State in 1951. He went to work at American Airlines in 1961 and retiring after 28 years of service.
Howard and Sue celebrated 70 years of marriage this past June.
He loved to garden, watching birds, squirrels and butterflies.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Zeke and Elva Chapman; one son, Jerry Wayne; and two brothers: Richard and Thomas Chapman. He is survived by his wife, Sue of the home; son, Phillips Chapman (Jill) of Colleyville, TX; daughter, Beverly Holden of Tulsa; brother, Gary (V. Sue) Chapman; sister, Lenore Jones (Jack); five grandchildren; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be 10:00 Am - 12:00 PM, Monday, January 9, 2017 at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service, 5757 S. Memorial Drive, Tulsa. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, January 9, 2016 at South Tulsa Baptist Church, 103rd and Sheridan.
Memorial Contributions, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the America Heart Association.
