Darrell was born July 6, 1944, to Herbert and Doshie (Williams) Sellers at Flower Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of their three children. He grew in Prattville and his family were some of the original charter members that began Trinity Baptist Church. He went to Limestone school and began playing trumpet in the band when he began Junior High in Sand Springs. Darrell and his best friend, Dan Hutchison, both played the same instrument in the band. They took turns being first chair in Bill Harris's CPHS Band. Darrell always said he was a member of the greatest class at Charles Page High School. Darrell had his own "Big Band" beginning with five members while in Junior High and then it grew to a 15-piece dance band by High School. Darrell always had a love for music, he was able to see Stan Kenton, Louie Armstrong, and many other Big Band or Jazz musicians while still in High School. After graduation, Bill Harris helped Darrell get a music scholarship to OSU where he played trumpet in Hiram Henry's Band. His heart will forever be an OSU Cowboy.
Darrell enjoyed growing up in Prattville/Sand Springs and never moved very far from where his parents' first house was. It was in Junior High that Darrell met his future wife Shelia Lea Hanson, who played flute in Band. Eventually he married the love of his life on September 3, 1963, just as Shelia was beginning her Senior year at CPHS. They had their first son, Robert Darrell Sellers on April 1, 1964, and Shelia then graduated with the Class of 1964. They had their second son, Sean Anthony Sellers on December 14, 1965.
Darrell was the original owner of the Bread of Life Bookstore in Sand Springs, and in June of 1982 the family along with 16 other friends, parents, and neighbors traveled to Holland, Switzerland, Lebanon, and Israel for a three week vacation; it was a trip he loved to talk about. Darrell was a Christian and loved doing the Lord's work no matter what it was. He traveled back to Israel in 1983 and 84 working with Peter Van Woerden (Corrie Ten Boom's nephew) and he was also a chauffeur for Peter the next year when Peter returned to the USA to do speaking engagements with Billy Graham. Darrell became disabled in 1990 and could not work full time again, but he soon found other things he loved doing. Ruth Leib taught him how to cook, he and Shelia were volunteers for many years when the Herbal Affair began, he became a docent at Philbrook for several years, he took art lessons and learned how to paint. He loved their Christmas trips to Cape Coral, Florida to visit Dr. Jeff and Ted, he also loved traveling to Phoenix, Arizona to spend time with his sister, Shirley and her family.
Darrell and Shelia just celebrated their 57th anniversary in September.
Darrell is survived by his loving wife and caretaker of 30 years, Shelia; their poodle, Bogie Sellers; his youngest son, Sean Anthony Sellers and his wife Julie; three grandkids, Brittany Dawn Sellers, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Tanner and Caitlin Sellers, of Sand Springs, and Lexie (Sellers and Jake Flake, of Sand Springs; one great-grandchild, Kennedy Sellers, daughter of Tanner and Caitlin Sellers; one sister, Shirley Ann (Sellers) Renter and her husband Chuck, of Sun City West, Arizona; a sister-in-law, Monnie Sellers Cox, of Sand Springs; and his lifelong best friend, Dan Hutchison and his wife Alice, of Oklahoma City.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to one of their first loves, the SS/CPHS Alumni Assoc. to help the future Sandites with their school needs and future scholarships for graduating Seniors.
