Henry Dale Hawkins, surrounded by his family and friends, went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ on July 2, 2010. He was 79 years old.
Dale was born in Rocky Ford, Colorado and grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas. He graduated from Field Kindley High School where he ran track. He attended Coffeyville Junior College before embarking on a career in sales. Dale retired from American Greetings Card Corporation in December 1992.
Known for his humor and kind, loving spirit, Dale made many friends while working his sales routes. Dale's favorite hobby was gardening which he generously shared with neighbors, friends and family. Dale also enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and was a constant encourager to each one in their activities. A Christian since his early years, Dale was always active in a local church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ola Hawkins; his brothers: Daniel, Robert and Walter.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Jeanie; his son: Mark and daughter in-law, Debra Hawkins; his son: Derek and daughter in-law, Debra Jean Hawkins; his daughter: Deanna and son in-law, Bill Covington; two sisters: Helene Hawkins of Nowata, Oklahoma; Patty Reid of Dallas, Texas; eleven grandchildren three great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Tuesday July 6, 2010 at Schaudt's Funeral Service, 719 E. 141st Street, Glenpool, OK with the family present from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday July 7, 2010 at the First Baptist Church-Glenpool with Reverend Ron Baker officiating.
