Born in Crosby, Minnesota on August 14, 1932, Helen began a career in nursing during high school as a Candy Striper then went on to her formal training at Hamline University. Her nursing career would last nearly 50 years. Shortly after graduation she met her husband, Robert Leroy James. The couple originally moved to Riverside, CA and attended Anderson College before returning and settling in Denver, CO to raise their family. A sweet and loving woman adored by all who met her, she was a voracious reader, loved to knit and spend time with her family. Yet more than all of this, from the time she became a believer in high school, she was known to all as a Christian with a profound understanding, faith, and relationship with God to the end.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Leroy James; parents Elmer Otto Jamsa and Helmi Elizabeth Jamsa; as well as both of her younger brothers Floyd and Wallace Jamsa.
Survivors include her daughter Debra (Baxter) Stovall of Denver, CO, and 2 sons Robert (Kelli) James of Tulsa, OK and David (Misty) James of Broken Arrow, OK; 8 grandchildren, Jeff, Jeremy and Crystal Stovall of Denver, CO, Joshua, Caleb, Jordan James of Tulsa, OK and Kaylie and Nicaylin James of Broken Arrow, OK; 5 great-grandchildren, Nathan Stovall, Gage Cole, Xander Cole, Sawyer Cole and Skylar Stovall of Denver, CO.
