Gordon Mark Osberghaus

Gordon Mark Osberghaus was born July 11, 1961 in Saginaw, Michigan to Werner and Marlies Osberghaus. He left our world on Sunday, September 6, 2015 in Tulsa at the age of 54 after a courageous, 18-month battle with melanoma. His caring heart, warm smile, and overwhelming influence touched our lives and will leave a void in all our hearts.

He was preceded in death by his father, Werner. His spirit is carried on by his mother, Marlies; son, Daniel; daughter, Alyssa; sisters, Erika (Dover), Diana (Cox), Helen (Gibbs), and Sandra (Schaeffer); brothers, Kurt, Roy, Mark, and Brian; and an extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life.

Gordon graduated with the Tulsa Memorial Class of 1979 and received his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Oklahoma State University where he began a 34-year career in radio and television broadcasting which included writing and producing for KJRH, KOTV, and Fox23. His influence was felt across the field by all who witnessed his hard work and dedication, always striving for perfection. As many will attest, Gordon's passion for his job had a profound impact on many journalists, in Tulsa and beyond.

His talents and interests were not limited to his job, however. Gordon was a proud Oklahoma State Cowboy, always sporting "the brightest orange.” He spent his free time cooking and baking, often sharing favorites with family and friends.

Above all, Gordon was a loving father, dedicated to caring for his children, regardless of the sacrifice. For years, he was devoted to endless soccer games, practices, trips, homework and all that his children required. Gordon was the first to express his joy for supporting his kids; he was their biggest fan. He never missed a chance to say “love you, sweets” and “love you, buddy.”

Visitation will be held 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Schaudt-Teel Funeral Home, 5757 South Memorial Drive.
