Goldie Gertrude (Grisson) Gelvin age 95 passed away June 6, 2009 at Glenpool Health Center in Glenpool, Oklahoma.
Goldie was born May 29, 1914 to Joseph and Ethel Rogers near the community of Swan Lake in Caddo County, Oklahoma. Goldie was the second of ten children. She married Berriman Ellis Grisson on June 27, 1936 in Carnegie, Oklahoma. She was a member of Highland Methodist Church. Goldie worked as a nurse for the Carnegie and Anadarko Hospitals. Ellis and Goldie purchased the Marlow Nursing Home and shortly after the opening her husband, Ellis, passed away. The nursing home was sold and in 1978 Goldie retired. In 1998 Goldie moved to Glenpool, Oklahoma to be near her two brothers. She resided in the Glenpool Health Center for the last three years.
Goldie loved to dance, travel and celebrate life with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Ethel Rogers; her husband: Berriman Ellis Grisson; her second husband: Mr. Gelvin; her son: Robert Ellis Grisson(1998); her brother: Claude Rogers; her sisters: Mamie, Edna, Dorthy, Artie and Dicie.
Gold is survived by her daughter: Ilean Whitely and her husband, Gary of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her grandsons: Todd Whitley and his wife, Lori of Wichita, Kansas; Tim Whitley and his wife, Debbie of Moore, Oklahoma; three great grandchildren; her brothers: Horace Rogers and his wife, Ruby of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; J. B. Rogers of Jenks, Oklahoma along with a host of friends at the Glenpool Health Center.
