Gloria Anne Lewis

April 1, 1941 — May 27, 2024

Gloria Anne Lewis, a gifted sculptor and painter, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 83. Born on April 1, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Herman and Bess (Romanek) Kahn; Gloria's life was a testament to creativity, dedication, and passion.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Jimmy Lewis, with whom she founded Attitudes Studio, a sanctuary for modernist sculpture known for its elegance and motion. Gloria's artistry was prominently featured in bronze, stainless steel, and steel fabrications, making a significant mark in the art world.

Gloria was a devoted mother to her daughter, Cara Ritter (Scott), and her son, Dave Rodgers (Julie). She was also a loving stepmother to Jaime Gollihare (Jarrod), Mindy Greyson, and Mandy Lewis (Blake Smith). Gloria cherished her brother, Sherwin Kahn (Sherry), and was a proud aunt to her nephews, Justin and Jason. Her grandchildren, Britann and Grant, Winston, Jax, Catcher, Finn, Lulabelle, Holiday, Petunia, Rockford, Jude, and Maxwell, were her joy, bringing light and laughter into her life. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Justin Mormino.

Gloria's journey in the arts began in Chicago, where she was born Gloria Anne Kahn. She studied at the prestigious Art Institute of Chicago, honing her skills as a painter, graphic designer, and fashion designer in her early twenties. Her career took a turn towards education, where she dedicated decades to nurturing young minds before retiring in 1992.

Post-retirement, Gloria reignited her passion for art by working at a foundry in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It was here, in 2004, that she met fellow sculptor Jim Lewis. Their shared love for sculpture led to the founding of Attitudes Studio, and they wed in 2007. Their partnership flourished as they created dozens of modern sculptures, gaining acclaim at regional and national juried art shows.

In 2008, Gloria and Jim relocated their studio to Costa Rica, where they continued to refine their artistic techniques and teach their craft to eager students. The couple's final move was to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 2023, where they continued to create and inspire until Gloria's passing.

Gloria's legacy is one of artistic brilliance and enduring love. Her works will continue to captivate and inspire, reflecting the grace and dynamism that she so effortlessly embodied. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the artistic community she enriched with her extraordinary vision.
