Glida Jean Wells

A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Glida Jean Wells will be held at 1:30 Thursday, June 7th, 2018 at Dove Ministry in Jenks, Oklahoma. Graveside service will follow at the Okmulgee Cemetery.

Glida Jean Wells age 97, passed away at The Gardens Nursing Home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on May 31, 2018. She was born in Steve, Arkansas to Samuel and Emma (Crawford) Marshall. Jean married the love of her life, Loyal Wells on June 2, 1939 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Jean spent her working years being a homemaker and taking care of her family. She was the type of woman that made sure everyone else’s needs were met before her own. Jean loved the Lord and led a godly life; being a prayer warrior for him and showing people the love and compassion that he did. People referred to her as the bird lady; hundred of hummingbirds would come to her feeders and even some would sit on her hands. Jean was a true artist in everything she did, whether she was painting with oil pastels and charcoals or she was making quilts she made it all look simple and beautiful.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude and thanks to The Gardens Nursing Facility, Compassus Hospice and our wonderful Dove Family. You all are great and we appreciate you for everything you have done for our family.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Emma Marshall; husband, Loyal Wells; brothers, Forster Marshall and Afton Marshall as well as son, Chris Bishop.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Bishop and husband Larry; grandchildren, Jason Bishop and wife Becky and Becky Penn.; six great grandchildren and multiple other family and friends who will forever cherish the memories of Jean.
