Gilbert Louis Schmidt

Gilbert Louis Schmidt age 77 passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at his residence in Jenks, Oklahoma.

He was born March 10, 1937 to Emil and Lilae Schmidt in Bancroft, Nebraska. He graduated from Wayne High School in Wayne, Nebraska. He served in the United States Army and married Sharon Colleen on April 14, 1962. Gilbert worked as a truck driver. Gilbert attended Christ The Redeemer Lutheran Church in Tulsa.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Emil and Lilae Schmidt, his sisters Pat Kiser and Joyce Rewolinski, his brother Ralph Schmidt, his niece Rana Kiser, his nephew Larry Kiser, his grandson, Jacob Armstrong..

He is survived by his wife, Sharon, his daughter, Candace Gaede and husband, David of Springfield, MO., his daughter, Kim Armstrong and husband, Mike of Tulsa, OK, his son, Robert Schmidt and his wife, Lisa of Jackson, TN, his daughter, Christy Burrell and husband, Jeremy of Riverside, CA., his brothers Steve Schmidt and Vern Schmidt, his grandchildren: Jennifer Sutton and husband Jessie; Joshua Gaede, Matthew Gaede, Logan Armstrong, Mollie Armstrong, Lauren Schmidt, Jayci Burrell, Kyndall Burrell, Chandler Burrell, Presley Burrell, Sloan Burrell, along with many nieces and nephews, friends and acquaintances.


Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Christ The Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2550 East 71st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Reverend Scott Burmeister will officiate.

Burial will take place at Giltner Cemetery in Hamilton, Nebraska. Pallbearers are Logan Armstrong, Clark Schmidt, Roger Schmidt, Sam Schmidt, Mike Rewolinski and Kevin Williams. Honorary pallbearers: Joshua Gaede, Matthew Gaede, Todd Williams, Craig Williams and Rick Williams.
