Gerrit Roelofsen

Gerrit "Jerry" Roelofsen age 59 also affectionately known by his grandson as "Poppie" left this earth surrounded by his loving family members on October 5, 2012 to be with our Lord and to join his family members who went before him. Jerry was born in Nieuw Vennep, Holland on June 12, 1953. In 1957 Jerry, his two sisters Betty Dejong of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jannie Cooper of Edmond, Oklahoma along with his late parents Arie and Florence Roelofsen headed to Tulsa, Oklahoma with help of a sponsorship from John Knox Presbyterian Church. Jerry's worked as a shop foreman at Closebend Inc. where he was employed for 23 years. Jerry was a hard working and loving man with a gentle and giving spirit. Gerrit "Jerry" Roelofsen is survived by his wife, Deanna Jo (Larsen) Roelofsen; his two sons Gerrit "Adam" Roelofsen and daughter in-law Kristen Shields of Jenks; Jacob Roelofsen of Jenks; his grandson Courtland Roelofsen of Jenks; sisters; Betty Dejong of Tulsa, Jannie Cooper and her husband John Cooper of Edmond, his mother in-law, Miriam Larsen of Tulsa, his brother in-law Todd Larsen of Tulsa, David Larsen and wife Jenny Larsen of Tulsa, sister in-law; Julie Deitert and her husband Craig Deitert of Bixby, along with many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews other family members, friends and acquaintances. Jerry had a very contagious personality that people were drawn to. He was a avid golfer and fisherman. He loved spending time with both of his sons, his grandson and enjoyed being with all of his family members. The Roelofsen family is grateful to all those who helped in Jerry's care and comfort, particularly during the last few days with their support and prayers. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday October 10, 2012 at Southminster Presbyterian Church, 3500 South Peoria, Tulsa, OK 74105 (918-749-2623).
