Geraldine J King

It is with great sadness that we announce our Mom and Granny, Geraldine

Joy King, passed from this Earth on January 25, 2023 in her home in Morris,

Oklahoma at 89 years old.

Granny was born on April 7, 1933 to Cecil and Mary Truitt in Tahlequah,

Oklahoma. She was raised there along with her 7 brothers and sisters.

She met the love of her life, Jack King, and was married on June 25, 1953.

Together they raised 10 children in Morris, OK. 3 of whom, Calvin, Peggy, and

Jackie preceded her in death along with her husband. She is survived by her

remaining children-Joyce and David Anderson, Joe King, Robert King, Ray and

Sheila King, Sarah Byerly, Carolyn and Sandy Jacobs, Linda and Joe Metzel.

While we would love to list all of her grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren by name but there is simply not enough space here to do that as

there are over 65 and counting. Even though there were so many, it never stopped

Granny from rocking every single one of them as babies.

She worked in the Morris School Cafeteria for over 25 years before she

retired in 1995. All the kids she served also knew her as Granny or The Lunch

Lady. Our Mom and Granny loved big and had room in her heart for every child

she met.

She truly was a mother created by God for the love, compassion, and

strength she showed through tragedy as well as through triumphs. She has

taught us and everyone around her what it means to live by faith and love like

Jesus. We will miss her dearly

A visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Schaudt Okmulgee Chapel on Monday, January 30, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Morris, 520 S 2nd Street, Morris, Oklahoma with a graveside service to follow at the Morris Cemetery.
