Georgia Mae Bailey

Georgia Mae was born on December 10, 1942 in Flat Rock, Oklahoma.

Her parents were Ollie Mae Jackson and George Robbins. Their time together was cut short due to George being called to serve in World War 2.



Georgia was raised by Ollie and Jack Williams in Coweta, OK. After graduation, she moved to Chicago, IL to stay with family and explore opportunities not found back home. After a few years, she moved to San Francisco, CA. It was there that she met and married Lenzie Bailey, Jr. After a few years they had a son, Kendric Ollie who was named after her mother.



Georgia returned to Oklahoma a few years later, and remained there the rest of her life.

After a stint at St. Francis Hospital, she found work at Tulsa Junior College. She remained at TJC after it transitioned into Tulsa Community College. She built many friendships that she maintained with faculty, staff, and students. After many years, she retired from TCC and took time to enjoy traveling and seeing family.



Following retirement, she housed her mother Ollie through her final years.

Georgia suffered a debilitating brain seizure in December 2018. After months of nursing care, she entered hospice in the Summer of 2019. Georgia left for heaven from St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK on September 3, 2019.



Known for her quick wit, sharp tongue, and big heart, Georgia will be missed by all who knew her.



She was a life-long member of Mt. Rose Baptist Church in Coweta, OK. She was a choir member, and would play the piano certain Sundays. Georgia was a firm believer in God’s Love.



Georgia was an Eastern Star, and a member of the Red Hat Society.

She was a supporter of the Oklahoma Sooners and the Oklahoma City Thunder.



She enjoyed crafting, quilting, and crocheting. She was heavily involved in church, family reunions, and charity work following her retirement.

Georgia was an avid fan of R&B, doo-wop, soul, and early rock and roll music. She learned to love her son’s loud, modern rock music over time.



Many Sundays after church were spent watching Westerns on television.

Georgia also enjoyed science fiction stories such as Star Trek.



She is preceded in Death by her parents and numerous aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her son, Kendric Ollie Bailey of Tempe, AZ; Aunt Odell Neal of Texas; adopted sister Glenal Pruitt-Johnson of Redwood City, CA; her beloved extended family of Willa May and Gayla Wright of Wagoner, OK; Rachelle and Aaron Pruitt of Tulsa, OK; Elwyn and Lisa Pruitt of Atlanta, GA; as well as a host of blood relatives and “so-close-they-may-as-well-be-blood” family across Oklahoma, Texas, Georgia, California, Missouri, and Arkansas. She cherished spending time with her loved ones across Green Country and the United States.
