George Nelson Keeney

July 22, 1928 — September 13, 2022

George Nelson Keeney passed away on September 13th, 2022, in Bixby, Oklahoma, surrounded by family at the age of 94.

George was born in New London, Connecticut, to George and Mary (Bentley) Keeney on July 22, 1928. George graduated from Bulkeley School in New London in 1946 and from the University of Connecticut in 1950. He served as an officer in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1959. George was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base when he met Joyce Hynes of Oklahoma City whom he married on April 11, 1953. He worked as a Retail Broker Salesman for various brokerage firms in Oklahoma City. They raised four children together.

George was a devout Catholic and attended St. Charles Borromeo in Warr Acres, Oklahoma, for over six decades. George was a wonderful neighbor and lived in the same home for sixty-five years. George loved baseball, hockey, travelling, dessert, and his rum and coke. He loved vacationing with family and travelling to watch great-nieces, a great-nephew, and all his grandchildren play in every sport. Everyone that knew George will remember his quick wit, quirky sense of humor and always being the life of the party!! His family will remember his crazy antics on any occasion and his signature gift wrap being aluminum foil.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joyce (Hynes) Keeney, and his granddaughter, Madeline Limber. He is survived by sons and daughters, George N. Keeney III (Sheila), Mary Massoth (Joseph), John Keeney, Joyce Limber (Jason), his grandchildren Kristin Forbes (Jeff), Matthew Keeney (Jennifer), Landon Massoth (Catherine), Lucas Massoth (Angelica), Hannah Massoth (Chris Havens), Jacob Massoth, Isabella Limber, Henry Limber, and his 6 great grandchildren, nieces, Cathy Lee and Maggy Pfenning, special great-nieces and a great-nephew, Aubrey Lee, Amy Lee (Raeann Thomas), Chad Lee (Allison), and their children.
