Gary Leon Smith

November 11, 1938 — June 29, 2014

Gary was born November 11, 1938 in Picket Prairie, Oklahoma, to Richard Everett Smith and Kathleen Ruby Cumbey. He attended Sapulpa High School and graduated in May 1957. He worked at Standard Tobacco, Campbell Wholesale and Fabsco before retiring about 10 years ago. He enjoyed bowling as many as three leagues at a time during the 1980s, fishing, golf and playing video games on the computer but his greatest love was spending time with his family.His kindness and wonderful sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by both parents and one brother, Richard.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruth, two daughters, Suzan Hollis and husband, Jim; LaDawn Shimp and husband, John; and one son, Gary Mark Smith, and wife, Cyndi; 6 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters; 1 sister, Wilma Hart of San Diego,
2 brothers-in-law, 4 sisters-in-law, many other loved ones and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Schaudt Funeral Service, 719 E. 141st, Glenpool, OK.

The celebration of life will be Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Glenpool with Reverend Ron Baker officiating.
