In Loving Memory of Garvin
Garvin, a remarkable soul and devoted husband, peacefully passed away on November 26, 2023, in Glenpool, Oklahoma, at the age of 81. He was born on September 1, 1942, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to his parents, Garland D. and Marie M. Collier.
Garvin's educational journey led him to Excelsior High School, where he graduated in 1960, marking a milestone in the history of Okfuskee County with a class of six-the largest ever! He continued his pursuit of knowledge with two more years of college.
For 42 years, Garvin dedicated himself to a career as a plumber and pipefitter, leaving his mark on projects across the globe-from the Middle East to Europe and throughout the United States. Wherever his work took him, Garvin took the opportunity to share his faith, creating lasting connections and lifelong relationships all over the globe.
In Aurora, Colorado, on June 10, 2007, Garvin united in marriage with Connie Ann Smith at the Redeemer Baptist Church, a place they played a pivotal role in founding. As the General Contractor on the church project, Garvin showcased his commitment. Garvin and Connie's marriage was a testament to their shared dedication, as they cared for each other deeply. Garvin's involvement with the Gideons International and the Local Prison Ministries of both Colorado and Oklahoma exemplified his compassionate spirit.
Over the next decade, Garvin and Connie embarked on a remarkable journey filled with adventures, laughter, tears, and countless cherished memories. They found joy in 4-wheeling in their beloved Toyota truck.
Garvin had a passion for crossbreeding tomato plants, tending to his garden with love-a project he started to stay close to Connie during her illness. Fishing and off-roading in his Toyota truck brought him immense joy.
On Thanksgiving this year, Garvin spent a cherished day with his family, great-nephews, and great-niece. On his last day on earth, he shared the day with his good friend Charlie Dudley at church before returning home to peacefully pass in his recliner, with his loyal dog Penelope by his side, ushering him into heaven.
