Gareth Alton Moffatt

February 20, 1969 — January 6, 2020

Gareth Alton Moffatt, loving husband and father, passed peacefully from the arms of his family into the arms of his Savior on Monday, January 6, 2020, at the age of 50 years. Gareth was born on February 20, 1969, in Bletchley, England to Gregory and Jacqueline (Ray) Moffatt.

Gareth earned his Master’s in Electrical and Mechanical Systems Engineering from Salford University and spent his career working jobs that ranged from robotics in the British nuclear fuel industry to off-gas refinery design in the Oklahoma oil and gas industry.

He met the love of his life, Sarah Hamilton, in the highlands of Papua New Guinea, and they were married on October 21, 2000, in Branson, MO. Together they built a family that spanned continents with two sons, Noah James and Nathaniel Christopher, born in England and two daughters, Kayleigh Elizabeth and Abigail Rosina, added through the beauty of adoption from Ethiopia. His children were his pride and joy.

Gareth enjoyed woodworking, camping with his sons, computer programming, amateur robotics, fiercely competitive family game nights, and dry, sarcastic humor. He did not enjoy gardening, but he tolerated it out of love for Sarah. He leaves his family a legacy of kindness, gentleness, integrity in even the small details, compassion and care for the helpless, and a genuine faith.

Gareth is preceded in death by his father, Greg Moffatt. He leaves many loving memories with his family, wife Sarah Moffatt, mother Jackie Moffatt, daughter Kayleigh Moffatt, son Noah Moffatt, son Nathan Moffatt, daughter Rosie Moffatt, sister Keri Gray and husband Sam, and a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m.on Friday, January 10, 2020, at his home church, RiverOaks Presbyterian Church, 5150 E. 101st St., Tulsa, OK, 74137.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Camp Barnabas, a camp for young people with special needs that held a special place in Gareth’s heart (https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=campbarnabas&id=1).

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Schaudt Funeral Service. Family and friends may send memories and condolences to the family online at www.schaudtfuneralservice.com.

But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and he will stand upon the earth at last. And after my body has decayed, yet in my body I will see God! Job 19:25-26
