In Loving Memory of Gail Eleanor McCurry

November 20, 1925 - August 31, 2023

Lets celebrate the remarkable life of Gail Eleanor McCurry, who peacefully passed away on August 31, 2023, in Glenpool, Oklahoma, at the age of 97. Gail was born on November 20, 1925, in Wheeling, West Virginia, to parents, Clarence and Rose McLaughlin.

Gail's unwavering devotion to her faith was evident in every aspect of her life. She attended daily mass, and her hands lovingly prayed the rosary through the birth of every child in the family. The Blessed Mother held a special place in her heart, a testament to her unwavering spirituality.

Gail's love story with her adored husband, Gerald, was a cornerstone for our family. Theirs was an unconditional love that weathered life's storms and celebrated its joys. Gail's dedication to her family and friends had no boundaries. She gave everything she had, and her presence was a source of unwavering support for all who were fortunate to have her in their lives.

Gail's love for her family extended to her grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Gaak." She is survived by her beloved son, George McCurry and daughter-in-law Patty, and her cherished grandchildren: Carolyn Lewis (Larry), Katie Daniel (Steve), Chris McCurry (Julie), and Susie Tittle (Lance). Her great-grandchildren, Adam Lewis (Madeline), Carrie Kate, George and Genevieve Lewis, Mia McCurry, Lexi, Lila, and Blake Tittle, brought endless joy into her life. Gail's great-great-granddaughter, Tatum Lewis, represented the newest branch on her family tree, as well as her devoted and best friend Gretchen White and family.

Gail's family was her life's purpose, and her memory will forever live and grow in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, her parents, Clarence and Rose McLaughlin, her brothers Ray and Wilbur, and her nephews Mickey and Gary McLaughlin.

Gail was a woman of many facets. She was an avid reader of mystery novels and grocery store tabloids were here guilty pleasure. She was a devoted fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and the New York Yankees, holding the World Series as a sacred event. As a "baseball mom," she diligently kept score at every game her son, George, played.

In the kitchen, Gail's culinary skills were questioned, but her pie crusts and fudge were legendary. She couldn't sew a button, but she always had cherry cokes and cookies ready for any visitor. Gail had a special love for chocolate, naming it as her favorite food group. Her off-key singing and polka dancing brought boundless joy to those around her. She wrote heartfelt poetry, was an animal lover, and a connoisseur of jewelry, hair, and nails. Her stubbornness was legendary, but so was her generous spirit.

Gail lived life to the fullest, embracing both its quiet moments and its great adventures. She had a knack for finding joy in every corner of life, and her infectious laughter was contagious.

She was particular about the right paper towels and the way the yard was mowed, making her presence felt even in the smallest details of life.
