Frederick James Sterner

June 26, 1934 — November 14, 2012

Frederick (Fred) James Sterner of Okmulgee, OK departed this earth to reside in his Heavenly home on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the age of 78. He was born in Belle Vernon, PA on June 26, 1934 to Mervin James and Ann Esther Sterner. He moved with his family to Okmulgee, OK in 1948. He represented the Okmulgee Bulldogs as high school football captain. He graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1952. Fred enlisted and served his country in the Army of the United States. He was honorably discharged November 30, 1962. Fred was employed as a pipeline x-ray technician with Bill Miller Pipeline X-ray and Edwards Pipeline Testing. He was member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 2. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Mervin and Ann Sterner, sister, Nancy Jane Sterner, and brother, Mervin James Sterner Jr. Fred is survived by his sisters, Donna Lee Rodgers of Garfield, Arkansas and Debbie Ann Walker and husband, David, of Okmulgee, OK as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Monday, November 19, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 19, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Okmulgee with Pastor Richard Manning officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Military Honors will be conducted at the graveside by the United States Army.
