Frank Miller Edwards, 79, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday August 19, 2017 with family at his bedside. He was born May 7, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to Thomas Miller and Frances Z. (Zeibert) Edwards.
Frank met the love of his life, Marilyn Kay (Morey) Edwards, while still attending high school. The two were married in 1963 in Frontenac, Kansas. He served honorably in the U.S. Army for over 6 years. After his service, he continued his education earning a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Pittsburg State College and Masters in Finance from Wichita State University. Following his education, he worked for Boeing in Wichita for four years, afterward moving with his family to Tulsa, Oklahoma to work for Rockwell International.
In 1973 Frank became the proud owner of Frank’s Country Inn in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He worked many tireless hours, maintaining and operating his bodacious salad bar and 100 item all-you-can-eat buffet. He owned his restaurant for over 35 years before finally retiring to the poker table. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. To know him, was to love him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Miller and Frances Z. Edwards, and sister Patsy Ruth (Edwards) Fillippini.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Kay Edwards of their home; his son Steve and wife Stacy Edwards of Andover, Kansas and daughter Susan and husband John Molinar of Tulsa, Oklahoma, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many friends. He will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday August 25, 2017, 11:00am at St. Pius X Church 1717 S. 75th E. Ave in Tulsa, Oklahoma and gathering will be on Friday September 1, 2017, 3pm-4:30pm at the American Legion in Frontenac, Kansas. An inurnment is schedule for a later date at Frontenac City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Frank Miller Edwards to Leukemia/ Lymphoma Society at www.LLS.org. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Schaudt’s Tulsa Funeral Service and Cremation Care Center.
